STEM Certificate Program
Letter to Families
Dear Grandview Students and Parents,
Thank you for your interest in the Grandview STEM Certificate Program. We are excited to showcase our amazing course selections which allow our students to examine careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Grandview has always offered the highest level of courses to further the interest and academic preparation of our students. Now those students who diligently pursue this tough course load will not only benefit from their knowledge and preparation but will also be able to show the universities that they are determined students by presenting them with a STEM certificate.
We hope you find this program a useful way to explore STEM careers, be encouraged to pursue outside experiences that enrich your education, be empowered to go beyond what is required and to excel in a potential field of study while jump-starting your future.
The Grandview STEM Committee
Why consider the STEM Certificate Program?
Due to the competitive nature of STEM majors in college we believe that taking a rigorous course load, including Honors, AP, and concurrent enrollment courses, is the best way to prepare students for the coursework they will encounter. In addition, involvement in clubs that encourage competition in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Business, allows students the opportunities to think on their feet, construct and communicate arguments, and work through the engineering process. Finally, our wish is that all students will become involved in an internship or job shadowing experience to gain the workplace experience that our classes may not provide.
Grandview Alumni
We have many Grandview alumni that are currently studying or have graduated from college with degrees in STEM. We have taken their advice and used this platform to create the STEM Certificate Program to allow our current students to go to different colleges and be successful due to the rigor of the program here at Grandview.
