Future Educator Pathway

Provides students with the opportunity to supplement coursework with practical work experience related to their educational program. Students work under the immediate supervision of experienced personnel at the education facility and with the direct guidance of the instructor.

Focuses on the historical, social, political, philosophical, cultural, and economic forces that shape the United States public school system. This course includes current issues of education reform, technology as it relates to education, and considerations related to becoming a teacher in the state of Colorado. The course addresses the educational theory and practices from Early Childhood Education (EGE) through secondary education.

Combines the basic theories of communication with public speech performance skills. Emphasis is on speech preparation, organization, support, audience analysis, and delivery.

Explores integration of technology instruction into teaching practices used in preschool through postsecondary (P-21) educational settings for all curriculum areas of content. This course reviews a variety of technologies with an emphasis on increasing student learning and retention of knowledge. The course also explores combining technology with several instructional methodologies to promote professional teacher dispositions related to technology-rich teaching.

Examines the nature of energy and matter, their interactions and changes, and the application of fundamental concepts to the study of our natural world. These concepts will be explored in hands-on laboratory experiments. This course integrates the fundamental concepts and ideas about the nature of physics and chemistry with the natural world. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-SC1 category. Note: Both semesters of SCI 1055 and SCI 1056 must be completed in order to receive GT credit.

Explores the principles of well-being, belonging, and inclusion through inquiry-based practices. Topics include inquiry-based pedagogy, inclusive learning environments, bias in the classroom, social and emotional learning (SEL), culturally responsive teaching, and community engagement. The course covers strategies to support the holistic development of all learners and the vital role of collaboration with colleagues, families, and communities. The course includes opportunities for reflection in these areas.

Examines earth and biological systems, living and non-living environments, through the application of fundamental energy and matter concepts. These systems and concepts will be explored in hands-on laboratory experiments. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-SC1 category.
